The LFTH Education Formation Framework

A connected methodology for forming educators, shaping the environments students experience, growing student agency and enabling schools to sustain change.

Transformation logic

People and environments must change together.

A transformed teacher can shape a healthier classroom. A healthier classroom can grow student agency. A school that aligns its structures and wider formative environments can help that change endure and travel outward.

01

Educator

Form the adult

Identity, sustainability, judgement and repeated leadership practice.

02

Environment

Shape where formation happens

Classroom, residential, co-curricular and relational culture.

03

Student

Grow agency

Voice, belonging, responsibility, participation and leadership.

04

School & system

Enable renewal

Leadership, structures, time, policy, resources and support.

Formation happens everywhere

Every environment teaches. Every routine forms. Every relationship communicates culture.

The classroom is a teacher’s first culture-building responsibility, but it is not the only formative space. Dormitories, discipline, clubs, sports, worship, assemblies, prefect systems and peer life also shape what students learn about dignity, responsibility and leadership.

Classroom

Learning culture

What is it like to learn, participate, make mistakes and carry responsibility here?

Residential & co-curricular

Living culture

What is it like to live, belong and lead beyond formal lessons?

Whole school

Institutional culture

How coherent are the messages students receive across adults, environments and systems?

Implementation methodology

Evidence → interpretation → action → rhythm → review.

Evidence becomes useful when people make meaning from it, choose a small response, practise consistently and return to review what changed.

01

Evidence

Listen

Gather the appropriate teacher, student, environment or institutional signal.

02

Interpretation

Understand

Ask what the pattern may mean without turning it into a label.

03

Action

Respond

Choose a focused plan within the right sphere of responsibility.

04

Rhythm

Practise

Embed the change in daily and weekly work.

05

Review

Adapt

Continue, adjust, stop or escalate from evidence.

Powered by the Leadership Heartbeat™

Rhythm protects the people and helps the work multiply.

The framework translates the Leadership Heartbeat into the life of education while keeping its four time horizons intact.

Daily Pulse

Practise

The small behaviour, routine or conversation carried today.

Weekly Wave

Notice

A short review of evidence, strain, progress and the next faithful step.

Quarterly Pivot

Recalibrate

A deeper decision about what to continue, adjust, stop or escalate.

Annual Sabbath

Renew

Space for restoration, perspective and the next season of stewardship.

Responsible evidence

Keep each evidence layer distinct.

Teacher Sustainability, Teacher Practice, Classroom Culture, Student Experience & Agency, Residential Culture and School Enablement answer different questions. They may be read together, but they must not be collapsed into one score.

Development, not judgement

Evidence supports formation and school improvement—not hidden performance management or ranking.

Agency, not automation

Tools can prompt and clarify. Teachers and school leaders remain responsible for professional decisions.

Safeguarding, not substitution

Serious wellbeing, child-protection and disciplinary concerns move to the appropriate people, policy and process.

The Companion is a practice and reflection layer, not an assessment. It helps a teacher use a Classroom Culture Plan in real situations while protecting teacher judgement and private reflection. Explore the Classroom Culture Companion.
